History

Emirates Stadium is home to the Arsenal football club. This program has a rich history nestled in the neighborhood of Holloway. Their first stadium was fondly known as Highbury until the team upgraded to a new stadium in 2006.

Arsenal Stadium Tour Review

The self-guided tour takes anywhere from 1-2 hours, depending on your level of interest in English football. An audio guide comes with your ticket package; you can listen to as much or as little as you prefer. The audio tour comes with Arsenal earphones you can keep as souvenirs. Lastly, you set your own pace, which is nice if you visit with kids

The tour guides you through the dressing room, visitors’ room, diamond club, press conference room, pitchside, players’ tunnel, and director’s box. Throughout the tour, there are staff poised to help with questions or directions to the next stop.

On the tour, you’ll also learn about the success of former Arsenal players and awards won by the football club. The ticket also includes entry to the Arsenal Museum. As your tour winds down, you receive a certificate before ending in the Armoury store.

As a side note, if you are traveling with kids and looking for other fun activities consider taking a day trip to Windsor. Our kids loved the experience and it is something they still talk about.

London Pass

We are big fans of the London Pass. We look at all the options, choose the sites we want to see, and price each out. If the London City Pass is cheaper, we go for it.

Arsenal is part of the London Pass, which sweetens the pot when deciding to visit. There are over 85 sites you can visit in the greater London area on the pass. For football fans, you can choose between visiting stadiums of the premier leagues such as Arsenal, Wembley, Chelsea, and Tottenham Hotspur.

Directions to the Stadium

When we travel in a major city, we also enjoy using public transportation for a more authentic feel. However, you can use Uber to arrive at Emirates, too. Our group was 5 people, and it was a bit harder considering the size of European cars compared to American cars (we did use Uber at other times, so it is possible).

Emirates has limited parking and advises guests to rely on public transportation. The nearest stop is Arsenal on the Piccadilly Line. Several other lines are within 10 minutes, including Finsbury Park and Highbury & Islington. It will all determine where you are coming from.

On our visit, we relied on the Tube and had no trouble. Using the Tube is so much easier than when we visited in 2016. Google Maps will tell you which platform to use and the estimated time. You can also place your pass on the phone, and kids ride for free! Our boys love trains, so we used the Tube almost exclusively during our last trip.
